Journeys of Compassion

Education and training are the keys to providing opportunities for people to reach self-sustainability. One of our goals is to provide education and training in those fields which have been identified by the people we work with as areas they want to develop. Far too frequently foreigners go into an area and tell the people what they should do often based on western ideas. Rather we would be further ahead by listening to the desires of the people and then put into a place a plan which will help them reach their goals.

Once the people begin to see improvement in their lives by reaching their goals then they may be in a frame of mind to accept greater challenges. It is at this point that we want to get more information in designing training programs that will further their future desires.

In micro-economic enterprises and activities, much of the education and training is done on a practical, hands-on level with ongoing teaching being done in the field rather than in the classroom and at time which are dictated by the program. In most cases the success of the learners is measured by their accomplishments instead of  by a letter grade.
